Social Housing
The Council owns many pensioner units, often with long term tenants. We need to reassure these tenants that their homes are secure and will not be sold out from underneath them.
However, providing social housing as if that solves all problems ignores the complex needs of some of our elderly residents. Failing health and mobility often means changes to accommodation are required, and other support services and facilities are needed. If we are to maintain social housing that assists our most needy, then we need to work with community groups and other agencies to offer real support, and not just token real estate.
